An Alcoholic Goes To Alcohol Rehabilitation And Gets Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Addiction
Donald used to boast to his friends how he could work at a difficult and full-time job and get smashed almost every night. Regrettably, after maintaining this party lifestyle for roughly four years, he began to have various alcohol related problems.
As an example, he had a hard time getting up for work because he felt so drained when he got up. Not only this, but just about every morning Donald experienced an appalling hangover. It was apparent that the combination of his hangovers and his lack of energy did not make it easy for him to get up and feel inspired to go to work. To make things more difficult, approximately a week ago he got his second DUI in the past eleven weeks.
To compound things further, at his place of employment his last two performance appraisals were less than acceptable. And finally, his three-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had declined due to his angry outbursts, financial difficulties, depression, and his lack of patience.
Although Donald was only twenty six years old, he simply began looking like he was in his early forties. Unfortunately, this is what abusive and unhealthy drinking can do to an individual. And in all honesty he grasped the fact that he was experiencing the negative outcomes of alcoholism or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to throw away his life to abusive and careless drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Sadly, he soon comprehended the fact that he lost all control after ingesting his first drink. Since this was a situation that was repeated every time he drank, this obviously worried him a great deal. In truth, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.
After going over his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and irresponsible drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually made up his mind to make an appointment to see his doctor. When Donald saw his family doctor, he genuinely confirmed that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to quit drinking. He then confirmed that drinking in moderation does not work for him and as a result, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his family doctor about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Jackson, an alcohol and drug addiction psychiatrist, who influenced Donald to enter into a drug and alcohol treatment center as an in-patient for alcohol detoxification and alcohol rehab. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this facility.
After four months of rigorous rehab, Donald left the in-patient rehab center and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient therapy. Motivated to change his life in a healthier way, Donald joined a gym and began working out three or four times per week. Within four months Donald was a new person. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more caring individual in his relationship with his girlfriend. Stated simply, stopping drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
